Luckily I got a tank in which the consistent and balanced environment is ideal for breeding Hemigrammus bleheri. There are few chances to observe the reproduction in embryogenesis of H. bleheri so I am glad to share the photos about the embryogenesis.
Tank size 90cm X60cmX45cm |
The parameters of the tank:
pH 4.87
Temperature 24~26C
TDS 300-400 ppm
photoperiod 10L:14D
At daybreak, the fish lay eggs and at the up-position-grass of the tank. I used the self-made mops to collect eggs for convenience. The frequency which the female spawn is about 3-4 days. The process of incubation of the embryogenesis of H. bleheri fries is similar to zebrafish (Danio rerio) but the incubation period is shorter. The fries keep staying beneath the surface of water with the adhesive gland on their heads.
